What we have to build is a completely new set of international relations in which each nation is allowed to celebrate statecraft, meaning making possible the realization of the creative potential of all of its citizens. This will be an interaction among nations in which each focuses on the best cultural tradition and potential of the other.

A call to young people to join us for a dialogue of beautiful culture from around the world. As has long been Chinese international policy, the old Silk Road, even before becoming a trading medium, was a way of communication with neighboring peoples. Diplomatic relations were the chance to exchange gifts which presented the highest culture of the country and spread its fame around the world. The cultural presentations in this event are “diplomatic gifts” of such a nature. Our various presentations can imitate this act of diplomacy to offer the best of the art and culture of each of our countries, as reflections of our participation in human creativity. In this sense, national identity has as its objective the emancipation of humanity through culture, to a higher, more universal self-conception.
This is event is the first in an ongoing series, intended to engage young people from around the world in a process of studying the best pearls of their own culture, and sharing them with others. We must be determined to create a new renaissance of beautiful culture and beautiful ideas.
