Grow the International Youth Movement for Peace Through Development

Peace is possible, only if each nation is permitted to develop to the full its own characteristics, its own potentialities, and regards it as its fundamental self-interest that all other nations similarly develop to their maximum.”

-Helga Zepp-LaRouche, “The One and The Many, and The Dialogue Among Cultures,” 2003

On July 18, 2026, the Schiller Institute will convene its first international youth conference of 2026, dedicated to the expansion of a global youth movement for the creation of a new, just international security and development architecture. The uncertain attempt by Washington to end its failing aggressive war on Iran, against the wishes of the warmongering Western elite, is a sign of the collapse of the 500-year-long reign of colonialism. A new and better era of mutual benefit and respect has been discussed widely, but it has not yet been consolidated, and, without new and qualified leadership, may still be defeated by the outbreak of nuclear world war.

Therefore, it is incumbent upon the youth of all nations to use their voices together to move the governments of the world according to the interests of the coming generations. Mankind can no longer tolerate oligarchism. We must mature as a human species; we must cooperate to end poverty and war forever. Is such a miraculous transformation possible, without thousands of passionate young people combining as world citizens and patriots to make it happen?

The Schiller Institute, founded in 1984 with the current strategic dynamic in view, has spent forty years convening conferences and presenting reports on both the scientific and cultural principles, and the practical economic development plans necessary to achieve a just, new world order. At our December 2025 international youth conference, Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche joined with Dr. Naledi Pandor, former Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, and Ambassador Beryl Sisulu, ambassador of South Africa to Mexico, to call on youth globally to take up this mission with the passion and urgency required to change the outcome of history. Much has been achieved since then. This July 18, we will gather participants from top universities across the globe to expand and deepen this movement.

Forefront in our considerations is the necessity of placing the Extended Oasis Plan, a fifty-year development plan for Southwest Asia conceived of by the late American economist Lyndon LaRouche, on the table for policy makers in the region, as the first step in bringing the whole world into the new paradigm of peace through development. The Oasis Plan, endorsed in May 2026 by former Prime Minister of Türkiye Ahmet Davutoğlu and in recent years by many other leading voices from the Global South, can become a rallying point for all peace-loving people. Just as essential as this economic vision will be the dialogue of cultures, the method of Friedrich Schiller’s universal history, by which people come to love and cherish the other culture, by embracing its noblest and most beautiful expressions from across time.

Equipped with the highest ideas of each civilization, and with knowledge of the universal scientific principles of physical economy, the science of uplifting mankind, are we not capable of replacing the decrepit system of empire with an harmonious, polyphonic future?
