The setting for this week’s #73 of the International Peace Coalition is the momentous events occurring in Russia. Not the war with NATO, but the conference of the BRICS nations, with 24 heads of state and some 36 nations, characterized by the London Telegraph and other British publications as “a diplomatic coup for Vladimir Putin.” Putin, for his part, said of the conference, “We have assumed responsibility for the future of the world, not only in word, but indeed…The BRICS states possess truly immense potential in terms of political power, economy, science, technology, as well as human development. Furthermore, we are united by shared values and a common worldview.”
A higher-order world dialogue is now possible regarding ending the danger of thermonuclear war. Will it take place? As dangerous as are the wars in Southwest Asia and Ukraine, the International Peace Coalition is now poised to make discussion of a new Security and Development Architecture take center stage in our respective nations. This week’s IPC a meeting will feature a report from the Kazan meeting, and a discussion of what it means for the ongoing efforts of the IPC.
Join us Friday at 11am ET with Glenn Diesen, Steve Starr, Jason Ross and others.
