Fifty years ago, Lyndon LaRouche and associates proposed an International Development Bank to replace the morally and economically bankrupt British liberal free trade system.  That system has now collapsed of its own folly, bringing with it the danger of nuclear war and political and economic convulsions across the globe, and is being replaced by a new, more just order, led by leaders of the "Global South." If we wish humankind to survive and prosper, the nations of the west must drop their baseless arrogance, and remember their better angels.  In Europe this means the legacy of the Italian Renaissance, the French Ecole Polytechnique, the music of Beethoven, the philosophy of Leibniz and other geniuses. For the United States, this is the legacy of the principles of the American Revolution as promoted by leaders like Ben Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, and Lyndon LaRouche. It was to this end that Helga Zepp-LaRouche founded the Schiller Institute 40 years ago, and now is the moment to make the new paradigm a reality.
